Zeus is believed to have been born in this cave in Crete. There is something special about caves, a sense one gets of coming home. There is no doubt that our ancestors called these places home. What is particularly interesting about this cave is the descent and accent. On the way down there is this feeling of moving backwards in time. What is now illuminated by colorful lights was once complete darkness. During the accent I couldn't help but think of Plato's Allegory of the Cave as I trudged upwards toward the little dot of outside light. I thought about metaphor and how they are used to help people see connections in our world.
